April 5, 2017 by Larry McGlaun (Register to contact)

Larry McGlaun died on October 13, 2016 at the age of 63. He was stricken with a very rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer for which there was no treatment or cure. Although he underwent a radical nephrectomy at M.D. Anderson in Houston, the cancer metastasized to his bones last summer, and to his brain in the fall. Larry was very brave and endeavored to say goodbye to all those he knew and loved knowing the cancer he had been diagnosed with was terminal. His last wish was for a party, a "celebration of life" complete with music, slideshow, food and open bar. Unfortunately Larry was unable to attend and died the day before his party. He led a very fulfilling, albeit short, life with many hobbies and interests. One constant was his love of cars and motorcycles having been from the Motor City! Larry enjoyed history, travel, and music. He also played blues guitar in his spare time. Larry finished his degree at the University of Texas at Arlington and retired from Lockheed Martin after 29 years as a materials engineer. Larry is survived by his wife of 37 years--Sally, as well as his father E. Norman McGlaun and sister Janet Dernoncourt. Larry's ashes are at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Texas.
